For ages, drummers have wrongly thought that drum resonance and sustain control come from the batter head. In fact, it's the resonant (bottom) head that matters. With a thinner resonant head like the Reso 7, you can get a tone similar to a thicker head but with a quicker decay. The Reso 7 is a 7mil coated resonant head. Its unique 7mil film offers a full tone without over - the - top sustain. The thin film gives shorter sustain for better control. The coated 7mil film adds a warm tone. Using the Evans B13RES7 Reso 7 Coated 1 - Ply 13 is easy. First, make sure your drum is clean and dry before installing the head. Loosely place the head on the drum and then start tightening the lugs evenly. You can use a drum key for this. Turn each lug a little bit at a time, going around the drum in a circular pattern until the head is at your desired tension. When playing, you'll notice that this head provides shorter sustain, which gives you more control over your beats. For maintenance, keep the head away from extreme heat and humidity. Wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth after each use to remove any dust or debris. If you see any signs of wear or damage, it might be time to replace the head.
