Product Detail

The Hipshot BT2 bass extender is a game - changer for bass players. Ideal for TK - 0881 (CBS) keys with a large post, it's been a top choice among elite bassists since 1982. No need to switch to a 5 - string when you need to play low D or B notes. Just flip a lever to instantly drop and restore your low - string tuning, keeping those gigs rolling! It directly replaces the Schaller® BMF tuner found on 1967 - 1982 CBS era Fender® basses and many boutique builds. Drop a Major 2nd (E - D) or go as low as a 4th (E - B) with standard - thickness strings. The DoubleStop feature offers three tunings on one string. It's built with robust stamped and machined steel, has a 27:1 tuning ratio, and fits 11/16' (17.5mm) headstock holes. The adjustable tension nylon bearing system ensures smooth operation. A stainless - steel key resists tarnishing and rust. Available in clover or lollipop key styles, with mounting hardware included. Choose from black, nickel, and gold finishes.

Using the Hipshot BT2 bass extender is easy. First, make sure your bass has the right 11/16' (17.5mm) headstock holes. Install it using the included mounting hardware. When you need to play lower notes, simply flip the lever to drop the tuning of your low string. To go back to the original tuning, flip the lever again. The DoubleStop feature gives you an extra tuning position, so play around with it to find the sounds you like. As for maintenance, keep the tuner clean. Wipe it with a soft cloth regularly. The stainless - steel key is resistant to tarnishing and rust, but it's still a good idea to avoid getting it wet. If you notice any issues with the adjustable tension nylon bearing system, don't try to fix it yourself. Instead, take it to a professional bass technician.
