The Rode VideoMicro is a compact and lightweight on-camera microphone, just 80mm (3’) long and 42gm (1.5oz). Its all-metal body offers high RF rejection and is coated in RØDE’s high-grade ceramic anti-glare black. No battery needed - it runs on camera plug-in power (min 3V). This microphone comes with a Rycote® Lyre® shock mount, which effectively reduces unwanted vibrations, and a deluxe furry windshield for outdoor use. Designed and made in Australia, it features a high-quality cardioid condenser capsule. It's a directional mic that cuts out distracting peripheral sounds, focusing on the audio in front of the camera. Its pickup is more forgiving than other RØDE on-camera mics, giving a natural sound indoors. Ideal for getting amazing audio for your videos. Optionally, use the RØDE SC7 cable to connect it to smartphones for clear, directional sound in video apps like Periscope.

Using the Rode VideoMicro is easy. First, attach it to your camera using the included camera shoe mount with the Rycote Lyre shock mount. If you're shooting outdoors, put on the furry windshield to block wind noise. Turn on your camera, and since the mic is powered by the camera's plug-in power, it will start working right away. When using it with a smartphone, connect the optional RØDE SC7 cable. As for maintenance, keep the mic clean. You can gently wipe the body with a soft cloth.
